The Somatic Testing Landscape: Optimizing the Latest Technologies for Better Precision Medicine with Danielle M. Hernandez, PhD

  • The field of precision medicine is rapidly growing. New biomarkers and therapies are continuously being identified, constantly changing the field of precision oncology, and challenging providers to stay up-to-date with the latest biomarker testing. This session will focus on the advancements in somatic tumor testing, from conventional biomarker assays to multi-omic techniques. Today, comprehensive somatic molecular profiling offers a cutting-edge approach that provides oncology care teams essential information to guide personalized clinical management and identify therapeutic options to most effectively treat a patient’s cancer.

    Webinar CEU

Only the live session qualifies for CEUs but when possible, we host the recordings on our website and NSGC recommends participants to use their personal email instead of work email addresses to ensure they receive their CEU certificates.

    Webinar PACE

Ambry Genetics is approved as a provider for continuing education program by NSGC and ASCLS P.A.C.E ® Program.

Molecular Science Liaison, Caris Life Sciences

Danielle Hernandez joined Caris Life Sciences in July 2020, and currently serves as a Molecular Science Liaison for the Midwest’s Great Plains region. She works closely with health care providers, researchers, and oncology leaders to advance the understanding of molecular science and precision medicine, lead molecular tumor boards, and support clinical translational research that integrates molecular tumor profiling and artificial intelligence to drive advancements in precision oncology. Danielle holds a B.S. in Science Education from Northern Michigan University, where she developed her passions for biomedical sciences, patient-driven research, and medical science education, which later led her to the Mayo Clinic where she earned her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with emphasis in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer biology. Notably, prior to joining Caris she completed her post-doctoral training at the University of Minnesota, in the Department of Neurosurgery, where she devised new approaches incorporating advanced genomic technologies, single cell techniques, and protein biochemistry to evaluate brain tumor heterogeneity associated with therapeutic resistance, tumor reoccurrence, and poor prognosis.

Genomic Science Liaison, Ambry Genetics

Lindsay Lipe is an Oncology Genomic Science Liaison at Ambry Genetics for the Bluegrass Region. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Michigan State University and her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling at Wayne State University. She worked as a clinical genetic counselor at the West Cancer Center in Memphis, TN prior to starting at Ambry. In her current role, she serves as a clinical liaison for the field team to educate health care providers and key opinion leaders on genetic testing and genomic medicine. Lindsay is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and is licensed as a genetic counselor by the TN Department of Health. She is board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
