Disease Information 

SACS (g.5254delC, g.6594delT) is characterized by early childhood onset of cerebellar ataxia, pyramidal tract signs, and peripheral neuropathy. Most patients with this neurodegenerative disorder become wheelchair-bound, with cognitive function usually not affected. In some cases patients may have atypical features, such as later onset or initial presentation of peripheral neuropathy.
