Ambry Genetics Awarded College of American
Pathologists Accreditation
Now part of an exclusive group of more than 6,000
laboratories worldwide that have met the highest standards of
excellence
IRVINE, CA (December 21, 2004) – AMBRY
GENETICS, a leading genetic testing company, announced it has
met all applicable standards and is fully accredited by the
College of American Pathologists (CAP) laboratory
accreditation program based on results of a recent on-site
inspection. The College is the world's largest association
composed exclusively of pathologists and is widely considered
the leader in laboratory quality assurance.
“Achieving CAP accreditation is another
milestone in advancing our corporate goals,” said Charles
Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of Ambry Genetics. “This
accrediatation opens new opportunities for us to expand our
business and further establishes our quality reputation and
leadership position in the fast-paced genomics marketplace,”
continued Dunlop.
During the CAP accreditation process,
inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality
control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP
inspectors also examine the entire staff’s qualifications, the
laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record,
as well as the overall management of the laboratory. The CAP
Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, is
recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more
stringent than the government’s own inspection program. This
stringent inspection program is designed to specifically
ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s
customers.
