Ambry Supports Epilepsy Awareness Month

November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, and Ambry regularly sponsors and participates in year-round activities to honor and support this important health issue that impacts so many.

Advocacy Group Partners

We work with epilepsy advocacy groups to raise awareness about causes and treatments for the condition, as well as the needs of those living with it. We are proud to work closely with the following organizations and events:

Academic Consortium Partners

We are an inaugural industry partner of the Epilepsy Genetics Initiative (EGI), a research program sponsored by the Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE). EGI is a database that contains genetic information about people with epilepsy that can be used for research purposes, with the goal of understanding genetic causes of epilepsy.

Educational Offerings

We offer continuing education about epilepsy through online webinars.

November 11, 2014: We hosted the Danny Did Foundation and the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation. These foundations raise awareness about Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) and Glut1 deficiency. Watch the webinar here.

November 30, 2015: We hosted the Batten Disease Support and Research Association for a webinar to raise awareness about Batten disease, which can often present with seizures/epilepsy.  Watch the webinar here.

Past Events 2015

November 4-5, 2015: We were excited to return to Epilepsy Awareness Day Disneyland (EADDL) as a co-sponsor, and this year also as an invited speaker at the Epilepsy Awareness and Education Expo. Ambry’s Amanda Bergner, MS CGC, presented an overview of genetic testing strategies for epilepsy on November 4. The following day, we joined thousands of others at Disneyland for the day to raise awareness about epilepsy and the needs of those living with this condition.

October 24, 2015: We once again co-sponsored the Danny Did Foundation's Sixth Annual Heart & Hugs Gala in Chicago, Illinois. This event raises funds that support the work of the Foundation to raise awareness about Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) and promote strategies for prevention.

October 11, 2015: Six of our own fantastic team members completed the Chicago Marathon and together raised more than $9,000 to benefit one of our advocacy partners, the Danny Did Foundation.

June 5, 2015:  We supported Sip Into Summer: A Benefit to End PCDH19 Epilepsy in San Rafael, CA, sponsored by our partners in epilepsy advocacy at the PCDH19 Alliance
