Ambry Supports Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, and Ambry Genetics is proud to support the Mauli Ola Foundation in the kickoff of its event-filled 2016 season.

Since Ambry leadership created it in 2006, the Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) has helped impact children with cystic fibrosis and other inherited disorders by pairing them with professional surfers and athletes that introduce them to the natural benefits of surfing. MOF was founded after a scientific publication showed that the ocean’s saltwater naturally helps clear out mucus that builds up in the lungs of people with cystic fibrosis.

MOF’s mission statement is, “The Mauli Ola Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope and confidence to individuals living with genetic diseases. Harnessing the healing powers of the ocean, we introduce surfing as a natural therapy. We are honored to share our knowledge of the ocean, family values and community—May the wave heal us all.”

Every Saturday in May, Ambry is supporting the MOF at Surf Experience Days in Waikiki, Hawaii and throughout California. Throughout the month of May, Ambry team members will be visiting children in hospitals, along with MOF ambassador professional surfers and athletes. Athletes sign autographs and spend time with children that are not well enough to make it out on the water.
